The year ends with a the traditional "MOCK TRIAL."  The students play the roles of judges, to lawyers, to victims, to defendants, to witnesses...

Current event knowledge, comprehension, synthesis, analysis, and evaluation is an important element of the weekly rigor in the classroom. Reading the Minneapolis Star Tribune and Newsweek during the week is part of the curriculm.  It gives the students an insight about current events and also allows the students to practice their reading skills, increase their vocabulary, check their grammatical insight...

Friday Jeopardy!!!  A tradition in Mesker's classroom for many a year. Most students look forward to ending a the week with a very competitive game of Team C.E. Jeopardy.  It is the only way in that my students can get extra credit during their class.  Each Friday we divide out into teams and play the game.  The members of the 1st place team get "x" number of extra credit points, while the last place team gets nearly none.

LOCAL HISTORY IS BACK!!!  After a years hiatus, our local history class is back.  One of the few such curriculms offered in all of the State of MN.  The students learn about the rich local history that we have in and around Parkers Prairie.  The key component of the class is that the students do research and contribute to finding and recording history.  Lot's of neat field trips!!!

Extra-curricular activities that we provide at PPHS are;  choir, band, knowledge bowl, yearbook, FFA, speech, one-act play, visual arts, girl's tennis, football, volleyball, wrestling, boy's basketball, girl basketball, softball, baseball, girl's track, boy's track, football cheerleading, basketball cheerleading, wrestling cheerleading.

"Shoot for the Moon, cuz even if you miss, you'll hit a Star."

"Success is a journey, not a destination."

"Lifes battles don't always go to the strongest or wisest person, but rather to the person who thinks that they CAN.  Think big and your deeds will grow and think small and you'll fall behind. Think that you can and you will, it's all in your STATE OF MIND."

Everyone of us can obtain a P.H.D. in the game of life.  What is your P. ride,  What is your H. ustle, and what is your D. esire.  Having this P.H.D. mentality will assist in carrying you towards the "success" level that you want for yourself, your family, your job/career, your neighborhood, your community, your church, ...
