Hello, my name is Jenny Erickson. This is my fifth year teaching kindergarten, my second here in Parkers Prairie. I graduated from MSU, Mankato in 2004 and recieved my Master's Degree in Teaching and Learning from St. Mary's University in 2008. I previously taught half day kindergarten in the cities. I live in Alexandria with my husband Luke and my puppy, Macy. Luke is also a teacher in the West Central Area School District. We are expecting our first baby in May! Besides teaching, I enjoy reading books, being active, watching movies, playing with Macy, visiting my family and friends in the cities, decorating my house, and relaxing! |
| I feel very strongly about maintaining a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students. In effort to foster respect, kindness and a sense of community we will participate in daily Morning Meetings. It is my goal that, by being a part of our “school family”, your child will develop a deep sense of belonging and excitement about school! Just as important as your child’s social growth is their academic growth. As you can see by our daily schedule, we will have very busy days and lots of time to learn. On a typical day your child will participate in almost two hours of literacy time, as well as regular math, science and social studies lessons. By the end of the year most kindergartners should be writing 2-3 sentence stories and reading leveled books! Isn’t that an exciting thought?! My classroom door is ALWAYS open. If you are a parent who is looking for volunteer opportunities, please let me know. Additionally, there will also be several fun opportunities throughout the year to be involved in your child’s classroom, so stay tuned! I am so excited to be part of such an important part in your child’s life. Thank you in advance for your involvement and communication. It is going to be a great year! Sincerely, Jenny Erickson
